COAL COMPANY TO INSTALL TWO OXYGEN PLANTS IN STATE

RANCHI: Coal India subsidiary Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) in Ranchi will install two oxygen generation plants in Jharkhand for Covid-19 patients, officials said on Wednesday.

According to a press communiqué issued by the CCL, Coal India Limited (CIL) was spending ₹35 crore under its CSR fund for installati­on of 25 oxygen generation plants across 22 hospitals in the country to increase supply of oxygen.

Of the 25 plants, five were being installed at CIL’s own hospitals at an investment of ₹4.25 crore. Of this five, CCL will be putting up the two plants in the state at a cost of ₹1.57 crore.

One plant will be installed at Central Hospital at Ranchi’s Gandhi Nagar having a 700 litres/minute capacity and supporting 70 beds, while the other plant having a of 500 litres/minute capacity will be set up at a Ramgarh hospital, catering to 50 beds.

“Responding to the oxygen need and to scale up its availabili­ty we are installing Oxygen plants on a war footing. All CIL-owned five plants will be installed before July, in phase wise manner, beginning from the first week of June. Plants supported by CIL at district hospitals are expected to be completed by August”, said a senior executive of the CIL.

In a unique model, CIL has engaged a voluntary organizati­on to establish oxygen banks at 10 locations across Jharkhand and Bihar at a cost of ₹1.34 crore. As many as 20 ventilator­s will be provided at each of the 10 locations for free.
