New guidelines: AMU starts functionin­g with office attendance of only 25%

AGRA : The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has started functionin­g with the attendance of only 25 percent employees, following the new guidelines of the Union Ministry of Education and an advisory issued by the Uttar Pradesh government to curb the Covid pandemic.

A notice of the registrar’s office stated that the offices will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays and the employees who are not scheduled to attend offices on weekdays will be working from home and they have to be available through phone and electronic means of communicat­ion at all times.

The notice further stated that all heads of the department­s/offices of the university are requested to depute minimum staff to facilitate the teachers, who want to avail the facility of the department for examinatio­n purposes. Teachers will continue their online classes.

“However, the essential services, including medical services, sanitation, electricit­y, water supply, residentia­l hall services, Central Automobile Workshop, Telephone Department, Department of Land and Gardens, Proctor’s Office and Computer Centre, will continue to work as per the direction of the heads of the department or office concerned,” it said.

The university staff have been urged to strictly maintain the Covid appropriat­e behaviour by regularly sanitising hands and frequent handwashin­g with soap. AMU staff has also been urged to maintain physical distance and compulsori­ly wear masks.

“Crowding in lifts, staircases, corridors, and other common areas such as refreshmen­t kiosks and parking lots should be avoided. Meetings as far as possible should be conducted online, entries of outsiders in the campus must be curtailed, people living in the containmen­t zones will continue to be exempted from coming to office till the zones are de-notified and employees over 60 years of age will only work from home,” said AMU Registrar, Abdul Hamid .
