Aakanksha Singh: Filmmakers in the south not keen on OTT releases

Work stalled for many in the andemic, but not for Aakanksha Singh. The ctor shares that since uly 2020, she esumed shooting in he south and has been working continuous­ly. While she counts her lessings for it, Singh, who has starred in Kannada film Pailwaan 2019) and Telugu film Malli Raava (2017), is now waiting the release of those projects. “I have been very lucky that I have constantly travelled for shoots. But the only concern is that whatever I have shot till now is yet to come out. In the current scenario, when people are releasing stuff on OTT in Bollywood, I have films lined up for theatrical release. In the south, makers are waiting. There films mean theatres, people don’t enjoy watching them on OTT,” she says, adding she too wants her films to release in theatres.

Among those that are ready for release include her Tamil debut Clap and an anthology Telugu film, Meet Cute. She is also set to star in the Hindi film May Day.

While she is not keen on her films being released on OTT, she is not averse to doing digital projects. In fact the actor has shot for a couple of them already. “I’m shooting for a Telugu web series and am in talks for a Hindi web series,” shares Singh, who started her career on the small screen.

Currently in Mumbai for her birthday which was on July 30, Singh, who turned 31, says she wants the year to be better than what it was last year, both personally and profession­ally.

“I am really looking forward to see what this year has in store for me,” she adds.
