Govt issues dos and don’ts as edu institutions open today
PATNA: After the Bihar government’s announcement of further relaxations in Covid curbs in unlock-5, the education department has announced dos and don’ts for educational institutions, including coaching institutes.
All the universities, colleges, technical institutions and higher secondary schools (class 11 & 12) were earlier allowed to open from July 12 with 50% attendance. Now, class 9 onwards, schools will run from August 7, while class 1 onwards schools will open from August 16, but the 50% attendance rider will remain. The students
will attend school on alternate days. For primary schools, the midday meal (MDM) scheme will remain suspended. The decision on MDM will be taken later on.
A letter issued by additional chief secretary (education) Sanjay Kumar to all the vice-chancellors, district magistrates and district education officers has advocated preference to online education system and encouragement for vaccination to all eligible persons, besides other safety measures against Covid infections.
All training institutions will also run with 50% attendance. Residential schools and hostels have also been allowed go functional. The conduct of competitive exams will be only with Covid-appropriate behaviour.
The coaching institutions mentoring students after class 10 can also run with 50% attendance, but the staff must be vaccinated and the details of vaccination status of staff must be submitted to the local police station.
