Two get life term for kidnapping, killing 13-year-old in 2018

BHABUA: The court of third additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) Rajesh Kumar Shukla here on Tuesday awarded life imprisonme­nt to an Uttar Pradesh (UP) criminal and his associate for kidnapping and murdering a 13-year-old boy at a village in Kaimur in 2018.

The two accused, identified as Irfan Ansari and Manoj Ram, have been slapped with a fine of ₹50,000 each under Section 302 (punishment for murder) and life imprisonme­nt under Section 364A (kidnapping for ransom, etc.) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They will have to face additional six-month imprisonme­nt if failed to deposit the fine, additional public prosecutor Sacchidana­nd Ray said.

The 13-year-old boy was kidnapped from school on March 16, 2018, evening. On March 17, his mother Taimun Bibi filed an FIR with the Durgawati police station after the kidnappers demanded ₹4 lakh ransom on call.

Police took the numbers on surveillan­ce and arrested Ansari, a resident of Sayar village under Gahamar police station of Gazipur district in UP and his associate Ram of Tori village under Bhagwanpur police station in Kaimur on March 17.

Following the interrogat­ion, the police recovered the boy’s body from the bed of Suara river near Adahaura on March 17 evening. They killed the boy to escape the police pressure, the duo confessed.

Police submitted a charge sheet against the duo under Sections 364 A, 302, 201/34 of IPC on May 31, 2018, and the charges were framed on July 4 same year. The trial commenced on August 8, 2018, additional public prosecutor Sacchidana­nd Ray said.
