Actor Mahima Chaudhry recently revealed her breast cancer diagnosis, and broke down as she opened up about losing her hair during the battle. She added that she has emerged stronger.

In an emotional Instagram video shared by actor Anupam Kher, Chaudhry narrated how she found out about her cancer. “I didn’t have any symptoms. I found it during my annual check-up after sonography… They were precancer cells, which I got removed. After the surgery, doctors found a tiny portion of cells had become cancerous, and that chemo was required. I started crying,” she shared, adding that her

sister encouraged her to look at the bright side, that it was treatable.

The 48-year-old didn’t initially tell her parents of her diagnosis. “They are so vulnerable, especially my mother. When I told her that I had a lump from my breast removed, she passed out,” she said.

While her family was supportive through the journey, she didn’t feel as strong. “I was weeping all the time, until I chatted with a little boy going through the same treatment,” she says, adding that she was inspired by his positive attitude.

It was a phone call about work which led Kher to find out about Chaudhry’s ordeal. “You are my HERO!... She is back on sets where she belongs and ready to fly,” Kher wrote while sharing the video.

She revealed that she has been turning down web shows and films as she had no hair during treatment. When she asked Kher if she could do his film with a wig, he encouraged her to shoot just as she was: “He said, ‘We don’t have [many] real-life heroes, and you’re one of them’.” She wrapped up by sharing that she has fully recovered and is doing well.
