Actor Vishwas Kini is happy with the reviews for the second season of She, one of the selected projects he chose after Veere Di Wedding (2018).

Surprisingly, after that hit, he didn’t go on a signing spree as expected. He reveals why, “I had to wait because people loved my character in Veere… so much that all the parts offered back then were similar to it. But I wanted to play something different.”

Kini further adds, “I feel that’s what I love about my job — it breaks the monotony in my life. So when Fernandez (his character in She) came along, it changed my employment status. He was so cool. I read the part and just knew I wanted to do it.”

While Kini is picky about film roles, he admits that he has been offered better roles on the web than in films. “I get film offers, but the parts are not interesting. I’d say I’m getting offered more interesting and meaty characters on OTT than in films. OTT, from my perspective, is a writer’s medium to its core. Our writers are finally getting a chance to dream big and offer what they are truly capable of. Hence, our shows are getting a better response from the audience than our films, and this is just the beginning of what is to come,” says Kini, who only said yes to the series because filmmaker Imtiaz Ali was involved in it.

“After Veere... was released, I remember in my first round of press interviews I was asked which director I’d like to work with. And Imtiaz sir’s name jumped out of my mouth as I’ve had a deep romantic relationship with his films. So when I was told about a crime thriller written by him, my jaw dropped, and once I read the script, I was game on,” he signs off.
