CM to launch Awas Yojna today
JAMSHEDPUR: Jharkhand chief minister (CM) Champai Soren will launch former CM Hemant Soren’s brainchild, the ‘Abua Awas Yojna’, by distributing approval letters to 292,000 selected beneficiaries and the first instalment to 24,827 of them from the Kolhan division of the state in Jamshedpur on Friday, officials close to the development said on Thursday.
Kolhan division comprises East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and SeraikelaKharsawan districts.
“The CM is proposed to preside over the divisional-level launching of the Abua Awas Yojna at a function in Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur tomorrow. The CM will distribute approval letters to 292,000 selected beneficiaries and the first instalment to 24,827 from the three districts under Kolhan,” Manjunath Bhajantri, East Singhbhum deputy commisdetailed sioner (DC), told HT on Thursday.
He said about 130,000 people applied in the East Singhbhum district for Abua Awas, of which over 100,000 were selected after verification. “The first instalment of ₹30,000 will be transferred through DBT to the beneficiary accounts directly to 8,138 applicants from East Singhbhum,” added Bhajantri.
“Given the CM’s proposed visit and the huge number of beneficiaries from East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, we have prepared a route chart for vehicles coming from Mango side, Adityapur side, Hara side into Jamshedpur. The entry of heavy commercial vehicles will be banned from 6 am to 10 pm tomorrow. An adequate number of police forces and magistrates have also been deployed,” Kishore Kaushal, Jamshedpur senior superintendent of police (SSP), told HT on Thursday.
Officials said 105,810 from East Singhbhum, 103,319 from West Singhbhum, and 83,495 families have been selected for the Abua Awas Yojna. From East Singhbhum, 8,138, 10,252 from West Singhbhum, and 6,437 beneficiaries will get the first instalment on Friday. The total government grant of ₹2 lakh for 31 sq meter 3-room Abua Awas houses will be given in four instalments. After the first instalment of ₹30,000, ₹50,000 in the second instalment, ₹1 lakh as the third, and ₹20,000 as the fourth and final instalment will be given, officials added.
