1.5 mn first-time voters included in Raj electoral roll

The state has added 1,554,604 new voters between 18 and 19 years of age since the Rajasthan elections held on November 25 last year. The new voters, constituti­ng 2.94% of the total registered voters, are eligible to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, chief electoral officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta said.

The data was reported in the final publicatio­n of the state’s integrated voter lists of 199 assembly constituen­cies.

CEO Gupta said the election department published final electoral rolls on Thursday in all the districts, except Karanpur assembly constituen­cy. The final publicatio­n of voter lists of Karanpur will be out on February 13. According to the final electoral rolls, at present over 53 million voters are registered in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The includes the updated figures of Karanpur. Out of this, 27 million are male, 25 million are female and 141,229 are service voters. The lists state that 616 voters belong to the third gender.

However, the process of adding names to the voter lists would continue even after February 8, said Gupta. Those who are yet to register can get their names added to the electoral rolls. The supplement­ary lists would be updated till 10 days before the last date of nomination for the Lok Sabha elections.

Disabled and elderly voters increased

According to the electoral roll, 572,965 people with disability have been registered till now. Also, 1,285,960 voters in and above the age of 80 years have been registered.

In the assembly elections last year, 560,425 people with disability and 1,172,260 in and above the age of 80 years were registered. “On January 19, special camps were organised in each district for the voter registrati­ons of people with disability,” said CEO.

The gender ratio in the voter lists also improved slightly this year with 923 women voters being registered per 1,000 men. This number was 920 in the last elections. Similarly, the elector population ratio increased to 654 against last year’s figure of 650.

Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) have also been issued to all voter, added Gupta.

The officer said after the 2023 assembly polls, there has been a net increase of 279,366 voters in the electoral lists. ere added.
