Illicit liquor den busted in Bokaro: Cops
DHANBAD: A team from the excise department busted an illicit liquor den during raids conducted in the Gadadhar forest of Baidhmara village, under the jurisdiction of Harla police station in Bokaro on Thursday, officials said.
During the raids on the bank of Damodar River, the team seized over 800 kg of Java plum, used in liquor manufacturing, with over 70 litres of Mahua liquor.
The raiding team, led by Sanjeev Dev, excise inspector, and Krishna Prajapati, sub-inspector, with other personnel, also destroyed large quantities of products used in liquor production that were recovered during the raid.
Thursday’s raid was part of an ongoing drive being conducted at different places in Bokaro under the instruction of Vijaya Jadhav in view of the
upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier on Tuesday, the excise department team busted two other liquor dens situated on the river Khanjo, under the jurisdiction of the Petarwar Police station area in Bokaro, and seized 100 litres of Mahua liquor. They also destroyed over 1000 litres of Fermented Mahua and lodged cases against the operators of the liquor dens under relevant sections of the law.
In a related development, the district arms magistrate of Bokaro issued a notice on Thursday instructing all arms licence holders to carry out the verification of their licences.
The notice stated that very few licence holders have so far submitted their arms for verification, and thus they have been asked to verify their licenses within two days.
The arms licence verification process has also been initiated in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
