Asansol DRM inspects Chirkunda rly station
Chetna Nand Singh, division railway manager of the Asansol division of the Eastern Railways, inspected the Chirkunda railway station on Friday, during which he assessed the ongoing development work being carried out under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station’ scheme.
He instructed the concerned officials of the division to accelerate the development work under the scheme.
According to the Union government scheme, the development work of the building is currently underway, and the construction of a lift at the station is expected to begin soon.
Speaking to reporters at the station, he said, “Amrit Bharat Station development work is being carried out at 15 stations of the division, and the progress of work at Chirkunda is almost satisfactory.”
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, upgradation/modernisation is to be carried out at 1,275 stations across the country.
The scheme aims to develop the station continuously with a long-term approach and involves the preparation and implementation of a master plan in phases to improve amenities such as station access, circulating area, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, kiosks for local products through schemes like one station one product, better passenger information systems, executive lounges, designated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, etc., based on the specific needs of each station.
The government scheme also includes improving buildings, integrating stations with both sides of the city, multimodal integration, amenities for divyangjans, sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions, provisions for ballastless tracks, Roof Plaza as necessary, phasing and feasibility, and creating city centres at the stations in the long term.
