BARMER: Shiv MLA and independent candidate from Barmer Lok Sabha seat, Ravindra Singh Bhati on Thursday said that he is not contesting the election, it is the people of Barmer, Jaisalmer and Balotra who are contesting it.

He further said: “These big political parties cannot digest how a teacher’s son like me is contesting the Lok Sabha elections.”

Bhati was addressing his nomination rally in Barmer which witnessed huge gathering of his supporters. Earlier, When Ravindra Singh Bhati reached the nomination meeting being held in Barmer, the crowd present there lifted him on their shoulders.

Bhati said: “In Barmer, both the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress are A and B teams of each other and everyone is aware about it.”

Bhati also lashed out at Congress leader Harish Choudhary. Without naming Choudhary, Bhati replied to all his allegations he made in the last few days. Bhati said: “They built a makeshift hospital during the Covid wave but everyone knew that it was built to occupy land. He said that he (Harish Choudhad charges of encounter and his hands are stained with blood.”

Taking dig at state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara’s dance saying that, “They are dancing now as they are right that they will not get a chance to dance on June 4, that’s why they are dancing now.” The earlier day, Dotasara danced on the stage during the nomination rally of Congress candidate Ummedaram Beniwal in Barmer.

He expressed his disappointment, saying, “I thought that he is such a great leader, he would give some good message to the people. What do you want to prove by dancing on the stage? The job of a public representative is to serve the people and fight for their rights, not the dancing on the stage.”

Hitting out at yesterday’s nomination rally of the Congress candidate, Bhati said that a person who was caught by the DOG in the paper leak case was sitting on the stage with the Congress and they are claiming that they were working for the youth.

Responding to Bhati, Congress leader Harish Choudhary said that he is not aware of the remarks Bhati had made, but he will first take note of them and reply with facts one by one.
