Not mine, Gandey will be victory of Guruji, Hemant Soren: Kalpana
RANCHI : Urging party workers to increase the margin of victory in Gandey assembly by-election, Kalpana Soren, wife of former CM Hemant Soren, told party workers in the constituency that her victory in reality would be one of party chief Shibu Soren and Hemant Soren.
Kalpana was addressing a review meeting of panchayat level workers of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at Gandey. Though Kalpana is yet to be declared party candidate, party insiders say she is all set to make her electoral debut from Gandey assembly constituency.
Gandey assembly is scheduled to go to polls on May 20. The BJP has already declared its candidate Dilip Verma, its state unit secretary, for the by poll.
“Don’t think this is going to be a victory of mine. You have been associated with Dishum guruji (Shibu Soren) and Hemant Soren ji. Consider it to be a victory of Guruji and Hemant Soren ji,” said Kalpana.
“Hemant Soren ji in jail. But you need to send a clear message that each one of you are Guruji and Hemant Soren,” she added, urging the voters to ensure victory in Gandey by poll.
Kalpana Soren has gradually become the face of the party, ever since Hemant Soren was arrested by the directorate of enforcement (ED) on January 31 on money laundering charges.
Though Champai Soren succeeded Hemant Soren in the chief minister’s office, it is Kalpana who has become the face of the party, chairing major meetings. She also attended the INDIA bloc rally in New Delhi along with Champai Soren and also addressed the audience at Ramlila Maidan.
