The Mohanpur police station in Deoghar has sent a notice to Godda MP Nishikant Dubey under section 41 A of the CrPC, calling him for questioning in connection with a December 2023 case registered against him on the statement of Md Aftab, a resident of Balthar village, accusing the leader of harassment.

As per the notice sent by the investigating officer of the case, Dubey is required to appear before the investigating officer at 10.30 a.m. on April 19, to present evidence in support of himself and cooperate in the ongoing investigation process.

According to the complaint, Md Aftab was moving towards Mohanpur Haat along with another person from his village after purchasing cattle on December 26, 2023, when Godda MP Dubey, along with several other individuals, stopped his car after spotting him and drove away the cattle.

Aftab, in his complaint, further stated that he was accused of being Bangladeshi and handed over to the police.

The police later released the duo from the police station and they lodged a case against Dubey and several other individuals based on Aftab’s statement, the complaint added.

The police registered a case against Dubey and several other unidentified people under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 151 (B) (1) (C), 166, 290, 336/34, 842, 427, 504 and 506.

Contacted, Priyanajan Kumar, officer in Charge of Mohanpur Police Station, in his brief reply confirmed the sending of the notice to Godda MP and said, “Yes, we have sent the notice to Godda MP in connection with the case lodged against him based on the statement of Md Aftab.”

Meanwhile, Dubey, through a post on X, said, “Crores are sent to Bangladesh through Santhal Pargana by Jharkhand Police for slaughtering. I consistently opposed it, and for the first time, the police lodged a case against me in Mohanpur Police Station for this.”

He added that the Jharkhand high court has ordered a stay on the case, and the Deoghar superintendent of police (SP) assured him it doesn’t stand.

“But despite all this, the police has called me for questioning on April 19 to humiliate and inflict mental torture on me,” said Dubey. “I am not a fugitive like Hemant (Soren) Ji, I will appear before the police,” he said.
