Soren family ‘humiliating’ Champai: LoP
Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Jharkhand assembly, Amar Bauri, attacked the Shibu Soren family on Sunday, accusing them of humiliating Champai Soren by working to replace him with Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana, an allegation the incumbent chief minister has denied.
The LoP recalled that the JMM leaders were telling the people in the Gandey assembly constituency that they were to elect the CM. “This proves that the incumbent CM Champai Soren will be removed soon. Champai Soren is known and respected as the ‘Kolhan Tiger’, but he is being humiliated constantly. If Kalpana Soren wishes, Champai Soren will resign now, but he should not be humiliated daily,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said in Jamshedpur on Sunday.
The Chandankyari MLA said the JMM has completely sidelined incumbent CM Champai Soren. “He has been limited to his assembly segment.”
“The CM is holding events in his own constituency today while Kalpana Soren is taking all the decisions regarding Lok Sabha elections. This is CM’s insult. In which capacity Kalpana Soren is doing this what’s her post in the JMM party? She is not even an MLA or MP still. We have always said that the JMM is a dynasty party. Now, it has been proven by Kalpana Soren’s overwhelming activities and the party’s control shifting to her,” said Bauri during BJP SC Morcha event on Dr BR Ambedkar’s 133rd birth anniversary.
Refuting the claims, Champai Soren said that Amar Bauri’s statements “hold no meaning”.
“I have no interest in such statements. BJP leaders have been unnerved over the rising popularity of the INDI alliance and giving cheap random statements,” he said.
Interestingly, former chief minister Hemant Soren’s close aide, JMM MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu, had said that if people elected Kalpana Soren, what was not done in 75 years would be done in four months. “You are not electing just an MLA. You are electing a CM equivalent,” Sonu said last week in Giridih.
Meanwhile, Bauri avoided direct answers on the party’s Dhanbad candidate Dhullu Mahato and criminal cases against him.
“The law will take its course... People’s court will soon give the verdict on him. As for allegations of land purchase by Dhullu Mahato’s son, is it a crime to buy land following due process?” said Bauri.
