Prime Minister Narendra Modi is cut off from the people of the country and their issues because no one is telling him the truth, said Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday while stating that the former is talking about “senseless things”.

“It seems that Modiji is cut off from the people of the country because no one is telling him the truth. When power becomes so great, people start fearing you and don’t tell you the truth, which is what is happening to Modiji,” she said. She was addressing a public meeting in Bhinmal block of Jalore in support of Congress candidate Vaibhav Gehlot, son of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot.

The Congress leader questioned, “What kind of things is Modiji telling the people? The simple problems are inflation and unemployment, but there is no discussion on these issues.”

“In the past 10 years of Modi’s government at the Centre, inflation has been the highest compared to the last 45 years...Today he says that a gas cylinder will cost ₹400, but where was this price for the last 10 years? Why did people have to pay ₹1200?” she asked.

“I feel that something has happened to the Prime Minister,” the Congress leader said, adding that “many things are happening these days that distract people’s attention...”

“The Prime Minister is talking

about senseless things.Sometimes he shows boastfulness, sometimes he shows false bravery. Sometimes he talks about meat and fish. Sometimes he talks about email from a time when there was no email service. Sometimes he flies in the air, sometimes he goes underwater...” said Priyanka.

The Congress leader asked the people, “What do these things mean to your life? The biggest problem that no one talks about is inflation.” “He does not understand what to do.He has been cut off from the people of the country and instead of talking about inflation and the problems of the common man, he is talking about senseless things,” she said.

She said, “It is now clearly visible that Modiji is not ready to recognize the struggle of the poor people.”

Talking about former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, she

said: “Two chief ministers are in jail under the pretext of corruption. All the (central) agencies are being misused. First, they make allegations of corruption, and then as soon as they join his party, they are cleared,” she said.

Slamming the BJP-led government at the Centre over the issue of electoral bonds, she said, “The biggest corruption in the country came to the fore when the Supreme Court asked for the list of donations... then the truth came to light.”

She said: “Modiji took donations from the corrupt people, from the company responsible for the bridge collapse incident in Gujarat, from the vaccine makers, and even lottery players.” “What could be a bigger corruption than this?”

Gandhi alleged that “injustice” has been happening to the farmers and the women in the country for the last 10 years. “Neither employment is available nor are farmers gaining anything,” she said.

She questioned, “Why are the children of billionaires getting married with great pomp? Where are these people getting so much money from...Modiji has waived off their loans. But he does not have the money to waive off the loans of farmers.”

She said, “One of the truths of this country is that the poor people have to struggle every morning and evening. Instead of providing employment, they are introducing schemes like Agnipath.” “The laws that were introduced in the country have benefited only billionaires. The farmers sat in the winter but no one heard their problems for months. The Prime Minister’s house was at some distance, but he did not even meet anyone. But when the UP elections were held, Modiji cancelled the black laws,” she said while alluding to the farmer laws which were taken back by the government.

Discussing the Congress election manifesto, she said: “The paper leaks are happening all over the country, but if the Congress comes to power, it will bring a law to stop this. It will include a job calendar.” She further mentioned that the eldest woman in the family will get ₹1 lakh allowance annually if the Congress government is voted to power.

She said that 50% of government jobs will be reserved for women across the country, legal guarantees will be created for workers, and the minimum wage will be at least ₹400.
