Standup comedian Bharti Singh denies engagement rumours with beau, writer Haarsh Limbhachiyaa. Talking exclusively to HT City, she says, “I’m surprised people have started congratulating me 15 days ahead of my engagement. I’m getting engaged but only by the end of this month.” Rubbishing the reports that they had a private ceremony last Sunday, Bharti adds, “It was a housewarming ceremony, as Haarsh has bought a new house in Andheri. Since it was a religious ceremony, so we took our friends out for a party.” Bharti says it’s wrong to assume and spread rumours. “If I partied, it’s assumed that I got engaged. Tomorrow, if I wear a bridal outfit for an episode, they’ll declare my wedding. If I buy a car or ring, they’ll say Haarsh gifted me. Why? Am I not making enough money? It’s so unplesant to read such demeaning things.” Though Bharti laughs off at these reports, she says her family does get affected. “My mom hasn’t read the news yet; she’ll get to know. I don’t have a father, so she gets worried. I’m still the same small town girl from a middle class family in Punjab.” On her participation in reality show Nach Baliye, Bharti confirms, “It’s true. I’m keen but Haarsh isn’t agreeing. I’m trying to convince him. He doesn’t want to get embarrassed on national television.” And what about the November 2017 wedding? “No date has been fixed as yet. Maybe this year end or starting of the next year. Also, contrary to the reports I’ve been dating Haarsh for two years, I’d like to clarify that we’ve known each other for seven years and this is our eighth year together as a couple,” she says.
