I never said I enjoy bold roles: Sana

- Monika Rawal Kukreja

Actor Sana Khan’s (left) bold scenes with actor Gurmeet Choudhary in her second film Wajah Tum Ho (2016) remain a topic of discussion even two months after the film’s release. To the extent that some have quoted the actor saying that she enjoyed the scenes. But Sana says that it was unfair to attribute the comment to her. “Firstly, I never said it, in that context. (Also) There’s nothing wrong with doing bold scenes. Tomorrow if I play a murderer in a violent film, you can’t go around and say that I love to kill people. As an actor, you enjoy the characters that you play in a movie,” she says. She feels that it is more of a requirement than a choice to have bold scenes in a film, today. “You see everyone today, is doing bold roles and no film is made without endless kissing scenes that too with A-list stars. Also, people have the perception that new actors, in a bid to get a project, agree to do bold roles. Excuse me, there are big stars who can pull off a great business on their own shoulders, why are they kissing then? Do they need it to sell their movie? NO!,” she says adding, “We do so because we’ve become advanced, we ape Western culture and somewhere you want to get realistic, which people have. When you categorise actors, it only shows your mentality.” Expressing displeasure over the way actors are judged based on onscreen characters, Sana says, “You can’t judge us by what we portray on-screen and conclude that I’m the same person in real life too.”
