This viral video was fuelled by just one coffee
It isn’t often that four very regular-looking chaps in very regular-looking clothes make a song-and-dance video and that goes viral. That’s exactly what happened with four IIT Roorkee engineering students’ Valentine’s Day video, set to Ed Sheeran’s song Shape of You. Even more interesting is how the video — released on February 13, it got 2.8 million views on Youtube at last count — got made in the first place. All that the makers had was money for one cup of coffee, which they bought in order to get permission to shoot in the coffee shop. “This was supposed to be a simple music video to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The idea was to tell people that being single on that day is not a big deal,” says Chetan Maheshwari, 21, a member of Cinesec, the cinematic group at IIT Roorkee, and one of the four who made the video. “It’s a part of a college tradition, where we celebrate V-day in a quirky way. For that, we collaborated with our Dance and Choreography club.” Problem was, they had zero money. Chetan says, “We’ve shot entirely on the campus, including the restaurants featured in the video. To shoot at Cafe Coffee Day, we pooled in money to buy one drink, and shot for a few hours.”
Over the past few weeks, Deepika Padukone has been on a whirlwind tour of the world. It all started with continuous promotional trips for her Hollywood debut, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, and she was spotted attending fashion shows at the New York Fashion Week 2017 last week. But the actor isn’t complaining. A source says, “Deepika has had a busy time over the past weeks, but she is happy. Not only did the entire team join Deepika for the movie’s promotions in India, they also travelled to a lot of other cities across the globe too.” According to the source, the actor “soaked in a variety of cultures” right from Mexico City and London to Los Angeles and Beijing. “Given her schedule, Deepika doesn’t get a lot of free time to travel despite the fact that she loves to explore new places. So, it was a great experience for her when she visited so many places,” says the source. Apparently, the actor was also very keen to explore the cities she went to. “She learnt a lot by interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, and feels enriched that she experienced so many cultures, food, habits and local customs,” the source added. Deepika says, “We had an extensive promotions schedule, and we travelled to a lot of places, and met and interacted with people from all over the world. All of this has been an enriching experience for me.” Deepika is currently busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati.
