Anushka’s love for family entertainers

- Prashant Singh

Ever since she made her Bollywood debut with a family entertainer such as Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), Anushka Sharma has been a favourite amongst family audiences, with other films including Patiala House (2011), PK (2014) and Sultan (2016). Now, her latest film, Phillauri is also being appreciated by audiences across age groups and markets. Anushka, on her part, is excited with the response to her film. She says, “I’m happy with the audience’s response to our film. It is delightful that families have loved the film and are watching it together. Thus making it a truly fun, family entertainer, which was always our endeavour.” Right from the start, Anushka, along with her brother Karnesh Sharma, has been “fully involved in all aspects” of the film, resulting in her juggling between shoot schedules of her other films such as Sultan (2016) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) to planning and executing all the plans including the film’s digital campaign along with her company’s digital team. For Anushka, the film has been an “extremely satisfying experience” not just for her but her company too. “I have loved being a part of this journey right from the scripting stage to its postproduction and final release. I really feel blessed that our efforts are resonating with the audience,” she says. But the actor says she is “happy” with her progress – as an actor and the producer. “I can’t say that I am some pandit, who has learnt it all. People who have been in the business for ages can’t say, which film works and which doesn’t, as the audiences decide the fate of a film. But the way we are dealing with our work, and our systems are in place, we are happy with it,” she says.
