Claire Foy is glad her role is over

English actor Claire Foy (left) is relieved to leave the drama series, The Crown, saying that dedicating a long period of time to play a single character is a daunting task for an actor. The 32-year-old, who plays the role of Queen Elizabeth II in the show, is glad it’s over, reported The Independent. “That’s not a shock — we always knew when we signed up to it, and also not to be funny but it’s also a real plus. As an actor there’s nothing worse than the sound of ‘seven years’. I’m sure that to some people, it sounds amazing but to us, it’s like, seven years of playing the same person? This is a tough job, you know? It’s long, a good nine-monther (working on the show each year). And that’s a lot of your life that you sign over to it,” Foy says. The show will take a leap in the lives of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, where he co-star Matt Smith will be recast instead of artificially ageing them using prosthetics or CGI. Foy adds that she will miss being on the show and says, “I’ll miss it terribly. But I just can’t wait to see where it goes.” The second season of the show is expected to begin towards the end of this year.
