Dhanush is doing what he does best: Chandan

- Shreya Mukherjee

Actor Dhanush (left), who has starred in Hindi films such as Raanjhanaa (2013), Shamitabh (2015) and Tamil films such as Kadhal Kondein and Aadukalam, has always been appreciated for his work. Now, he’s got a new admirer in Chandan Roy Sanyal (right) of Kaminey (2009) fame. “Dhanush is a talented actor and I enjoy his work. The kind of choices he has made in Tamil cinema are noteworthy. Not just acting, he is also promoting the right kind of films,” says Chandan. Inspired by Dhanush, the 37-year-old also believes in letting his work to the talking. The actor, whose body of work includes Hindi, Bengali and English films such as Rang de Basanti (2006), Mahanagar@ Kolkata (2010), Midnight’s Children (2012), says that he is working hard for his future. Confident about the choices he makes on the work front, he says, “I’m particular about the kind of films that I do. It’s fine for me if I’m not getting mobbed right now because I’m working for tomorrow. Mr (Majid) Majidi had once said that he makes films for future. Working hard is the least that I can do. So, later when I look back, I should feel good.” Chandan believes that his dedication towards his art will fetch him appreciation in the years to come. “In the film industry, you can’t earn respect just after working for five or 10 years. If you look at actors such as Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand or Guru Dutt, their work will live forever. People will always refer to their work with respect. That’s important. I’m saving myself for a longer game,” adds the Prague (2013) actor.
