Bieber fever rises with a Koffee cuppa on the table

Canadian singer Justin Bieber (left), who performs in Mumbai tomorrow, will appear on Koffee with Karan, according to a source. The sixth season of the TV chat show, hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar (right), will be unveiled with this interview, adds the source. Koffee with Karan has previously interviewed top Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. “This is the first time an international celebrity of Bieber’s stature will be [on] an Indian chat show,” said the source. Karan has held dialogues with or hosted international celebrities before, among them actors Richard Gere and Hugh Jackman, tennis champ Maria Sharapova and designer Christian Louboutin, but those weren’t for his TV chat show. Meanwhile, the Bieber frenzy is spreading in Mumbai today. Tomorrow’s concert, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, will be attended by some 50,000 Beliebers. Security is naturally supertight. While the ring of security closest to Bieber is being handled by actor Salman’s Khan bodyguard Shera, the general security arrangement for the concert has Navi Mumbai Police on their toes. The police will monitor vehicles on the Mumbai-pune Expressway on the day of the concert. Policemen will be deployed at various entry and exit gates. The organisers have engaged private security agencies, but the police will be on high alert, too. At the show, plainclothes police personnel will keep an eye on the goings-on. A police control room will be set up at the venue.
