As Pyar Ka Punchnama turns six, lead actors share their

Filmmaker Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) managed to captivate the audience despite having new faces. As the film completes six years, actor Divyendu Sharma, who played the much-loved character of Liquid in the film, says he was convinced that the film would be liked by the viewers. “Honestly, I had this hunch that the film would do well. However, I was also aware that it’s a small film and would not make big numbers during the opening weekend but it picked up,” says Divyendu. The romantic comedy also featured newcomers Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha, Ishita Raj Sharma, Sonnalli Seygall and Raayo S Bakhirta. Kartik’s hilarious monologue on the plight of men in relationships from the film became very popular. The 28-year-old actor says that the original monologue was much longer and was chopped during editing. “By the end of it, I am supposed to be exhausted. To look exhausted, I did push-ups before the monologue,” says Kartik, who delivered the seven-minute dialogue in one take. Recalling the days when the film was getting shot, Divyendu says it was so much fun that their long working hours used to fly by without them realising it. But the shoot had its challenges, too. “All the scenes in the dhaba were shot at three in the morning in Gurgaon in December. It was so cold and we were supposed to be shooting summer scenes. I remember we would have Bacardi shots in between to keep ourselves warm,” says Divyendu. Since everyone was new on the set, Kartik says this made the shoot even more fun. “I remember each and every day. Of course, I was bullied a lot as I was the youngest. But I remember each day was so much fun,” says Kartik.
