I was transported to a different world when I came to India: Colin Cowie

Indian wedding planner, Vandana Mohan invited bigwigs from the wedding market industry from across the world to travel in India. Through this trip, she wanted to introduce her friends and colleagues to the breathtaking destinations and rich culture in the country. “Since none of them had ever been to India, it seemed like a very distant land to them. I took it upon myself to showcase a little bit of our country. This was my way of showing India’s heritage and culture,” says Mohan. From Jaipur to Hyderabad and Mumbai, they were inspired by all that they saw. The list of wedding designers included Sarah Haywood, Colin Cowie, Ed Libby and Robert/bob Conti, Eleonora Rioda, Nefianto Setiono and Ery Touwani, James Lord and Alison Hargreaves. Colin Cowie has a client list that includes Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston. The 55-year-old has hosted his own TV show for eight years, written eight books on weddings and is a regular on The Oprah Winfrey and The Ellen Degeneres Shows. When we asked him about his experience in India, he said, “This was my first trip to India. I have wanted to come to here for the longest time and when Vandana asked me, I jumped at the opportunity.” Talking about his travel itinerary, he says, “I saw sunrise at Taj Mahal and it was a beautiful memory for me. Seeing one of the wonders of the world is something I would cherish my entire life.” Later he went to Jaipur. “I was transported to another world. Jaipur was very nice, I want to come back and see Jodhpur and South India. I have a thirst for all things Indian now,” he says.
