I don’t envy new actors: Katrina

- Prashant Singh Samarth Goyal

One would be insane and a megalomaniac to not understand the nature of time or the nature of the universe,” says Katrina Kaif. The actor, who looked smoking hot in a recent shoot with celebrity photographer Mario Testino, is mature enough to acknowledge that the years of playing a college girl are behind her. “Time does not stand still for anyone. And with time comes evolution, and that’s what you should be doing,” she adds. Katrina says that she can no longer think she is “going to rewind myself and play a 21-year-old in a short pink mini skirt”.

Love makes one do “great healthy things”, says singer Adnan Sami, and he is the living proof. For his father, he lost a whopping 167kg; for his wife Roya, he gave up alcohol; and for his baby daughter, he gave up smoking “one fine day”. In a telephonic interview with us, Adnan, who is in Berlin, says, “My love for my daughter Medina (born this month) is so tremendous that Bollywood is a place of new faces — Katrina herself was one in 2005 — and this is a fact of life she can live with. “There are other new actors who’ll always keep coming. I don’t know all of them, but some of them are my friends and there’s not a moment when I feel envy in a bad way,” she says, adding that healthy competition should always be there because “that’s what drives you”. All that matters when an actor looks over their shoulder is that they have good performances and good films to their name, she says. “That’s the only information you need to have of the industry you work in,” adds Katrina.
