MONSOON MANE MAINTENANCE

-

Hair expert Ritu Gehani suggests the following tips for haircare during monsoon: Straight hair: Ammonia-free colours swell up the hair strands creating fullness. Wash hair with a volumising shampoo, followed by a mild conditioner. Curly hair: This kind of hair lacks moisture, and if chemically treated, is more prone to breakage. Use a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and a good leave-in conditioner to ensure that the hair stays hydrated and supports the flexibility of the curls. Also, use a hydrating mask to fill in the porosity. Wavy hair: Use a mild hydrating shampoo, lots of conditioner and leave-in moisturiser. Blow-dry the roots completely on medium heat setting, after you twist the ends into a bun and let the latter half of it air dry. Coiled hair: Use a sulphatefree hydrating shampoo, intense hydrating mask and leave-in conditioner. Detangle the hair using your fingers or a widetoothed comb to preserve the shape of your hair. Comb from the roots to ends. Never comb through dry hair. Dermato-cosmetologist Swati Srivastava suggests these hair masks for the season: Straight hair: Take equal amount of water and milk in a spray bottle. Spray on hair and leave for 30 minutes. Dry it with towel. Rinse well, let it air dry and then comb. Wavy hair: Take 1 avocado, 2tsp olive oil and 1tsp honey. Mix and apply on the hair and rinse off after 30 minutes. Curly hair: Mix apple cider vinegar with water. Shampoo your hair, and then use this mix to rinse your hair. Let it sit there for a while. Coiled hair: Take 2tbsp mayonnaise and 1tbsp olive oil. Mix and make a paste, and leave it on the hair for 30 minutes. Then rinse off with shampoo.
