Be dark, handsome, besharam — Be Babu

- HTC

National award winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character, Babu, in his upcoming movie Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is going to be his most entertaining character ever. The versatile actor plays the role of a sharp shooter in the film that is directed by Kushan Nandy, who hails from a small district of Uttar Pradesh. The actor admits that Babu is dark, handsome and besharam (shameless) but he is confident about his craft to the extent that nobody would dare to cross his path. Last month, Nawaz criticised the bias against dark-skinned people on his Twitter handle after the casting director of one of his films reportedly said it would be weird to cast fair-looking people alongside him. Nawazuddin’s thought resonated with the people across cities, especially the ones with the a similar skin tone as his. The actor’s strong take on racists has boosted the confidence of people with dark skin as they embrace their new hero, Babu, by inviting him for several talk sessions. Producer Kiran Shroff says, “Babu has become such a rage. People from different walks of life are identifying with his carefree and besharam attitude.” Babu’s dialogue in the movie, “Maana ke tall nahin hoon par dark aur handsome to hoon, isiliye to ladkiya marti hain humpe...” has become immensely popular among the people. And that’s the film too, carefree, besharam and real. Produced by Kiran Shyam Shroff and Ashmith Kunder, directed by Kushan Nandy and written by Kushan Nandy and Ghalib Asad Bhopali, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is scheduled to release on August 25, 2017.
