Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Amid recent reports suggesting that he isn’t keeping well, it was also alleged that he kept many Bollywood stars waiting for hours and even cancelled a few shoots. Now, in an exclusive chat with HT, comedian Chandan Prabhakar, Kapil’s childhood friend and fellow cast member on his show, reveals that Kapil’s health is not stable and reports are being blown out of proportion. “It’s true that of late, Kapil feels weak but people have assumed a lot more in their minds. Right now, the show is going on, and if he’s unwell, he cannot suddenly take the show off air. So he tries to perform, act and shoot. But he faints on the set, it’s not his fault but sadly that also becomes news,” says Chandan, who returned to the show after the much publicised mid-air brawl following which many cast members including Sunil Grover and Ali Asgar walked out of the show. Some reports also suggested that Kapil has been depressed of late, which he she has been giving online users major fitness goals. And now, she is in talks with a few brands that belong to the same space. The details of those deals are unknown at this point as the paperwork is yet to be finalised,” says an insider. Not just that, Katrina has been signed on by a paint company and has just shot big-budget campaigns with a couple of fashion brands as well. Advertising experts say that since Katrina has big films in her kitty with the denied in a recent interview. Agreeing with him, Chandan says, “Depression kuch nahi hota. Who says usko depression hai? Have you ever seen a sign of depression on his face while he is hosting the show?” Referring to frequent incidents of shoots being cancelled, Chandan says that people get into the thinking mode if such incidents are repeated. “Nobody knows what’s going in his [Kapil] life and how, despite being so unwell, he is shooting. Woh show par thode na batayega sabko ki aaj main beemar hu fir bhi shoot kar raha hoon. That is so brave on his part that even in this situation also, he is making people laugh. I salute him for that,” says Chandan. He also totally rubbishes the reports that Kapil has made his guests wait. “He has never made anyone wait. He reaches the sets before anyone else,” says the comedian. Has Chandan ever thought of hosting the show in Kapil’s absence? He gives a modest answer to this. “That show belongs to Kapil Sharma and not one person alone. If he is not there, the show cannot happen and that remains the truth.” Khans (Aanand L Rai’s next with Shah Rukh, Tiger Zinda Hai with Salman and Thugs of Hindostan with Aamir), she has attracted brands in a big way. “With such potential blockbusters, they are confident about her star value,” says an advertising expert.katrina couldn’t be reached for a comment.
