‘I’LL GO TO MUMBAI ONLY TO SEE MY CAT’

Actor Alia Bhatt finds it hard to stay away from her cat, Edward, for long; plans to visit Mumbai from film shoot in Patiala

- Prashant Singh How As How

If you’ve seen Alia Bhatt’s Instagram feed, you know how much the actor adores her cat, Edward. She doesn’t like to spend a minute away from her furry baby, but what can one do when work comes calling. Alia, who is shooting for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi in Patiala won’t be done with work till almost the end of September. So, here’s a plan she has come up with. “Not many would believe it, but I’ll travel to Mumbai just to see my cat (Edward) so I’m assured that he hasn’t forgotten me,” laughs Alia. “After we finish shooting in Patiala, I have a break for a few days to reach Kashmir [for another schedule]. I’ll go to Mumbai; spend a day with my cat and the next day, fly to Kashmir,” adds the 24-year-old. I won’t lie. So yes, it has been very challenging. The process (of the film) is still on as I have a month left [for the film]. We have been shooting in almost a non-stop manner, barring a few days when the shoot got disrupted (due to riots after Ram Rahim’s conviction). But overall, it has been very good — creatively and mentally! Fashion is relatable and something I understand well. I always wanted to mix it with a good cause. Plus, donation is something that people are extremely kind-hearted about. But, I’ve realised that when you make donations in kind, the response is higher. For animals, donations in kind are effective. In this case, it’s Motopaws denim donation drive. Slow and steady. Right now, my aim is to increase the number of views and followers. If I can’t be there physically, I can, at least, be there virtually, thanks to social media.
