Kriti Sanon’s big small-town connect

-

It’s a known fact that Bareilly Ki Barfi (BKB) has turned out to be a sleeper hit of 2017. And that has, of course, come with loads of appreciation for the film’s actors, Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao. Now, apparently, Kriti — who played a small-town girl — has been inundated with several smalltown girl roles. “Kriti’s character (Bitti) has been the most rooted character that the actor has played on screen till date. So, over the past few weeks, many filmmakers have been offering her performance-oriented roles, wherein she is supposed to play a small town girl,” says an insider. In an earlier interview with HT Café, Kriti spoke about how she picked up small nuances from small-town girls, including their body language and accent for her role of a UP girl. “Now, her ‘rooted’ outing has caught the attention of film-makers, whose films require powerful performances,” says the insider. Clearly, it’s a drastic change from her glamorous diva image that Kriti has always been associated with. “It was an interesting experience for Kriti to get out of her comfort zone and she is looking forward to playing many such interesting parts in the future too,” says the insider. When contacted, Kriti says, “I am happy that people have liked me in BKB as it was a very different world for me. It only gives me more confidence to experiment further and take up different characters. Now, the kinds of opportunities that are coming my way are way more exciting and varied, which is great for me.”
