‘I like telling stories’

- Pooja Sharma

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s filmography has been quite versatile so far, and the actor has said that he is also open to working in other platforms and formats than just the big screen. But is direction or production a part of his long-term plans? “I like telling stories,” he says. “Production would only make sense to me if I think there is a story that needs to be told. Or if I want to play a certain character and nobody is funding a film for it, then I will make that film. That is the only reason for me to take up production. I’m not obsessed about making more money or proving a point that I am also ‘this’ [a producer]. In fact, running for 30 minutes would give me a better high than this would (laughs).” Speaking about other areas of film-making that he might explore, Sushant says, “Right now, I am not good at the technicalities of any of the other art forms such as cinematography or visual effects. But I believe technical stuff is the easiest to learn — if you have a knack for visualisation and storytelling, you can do anything.” Sushant also feels that the next decade will bring big changes for the entertainment industry. “Because of my background — I am into physics and math and I know graphics — my understanding of the future is immediate. Everything is going to change in the next ten years and things will change on various fronts, be it in television or cinema,” says the MS Dhoni – The Untold Story (2016) actor.
