‘TAIMUR MIGHT FEEL FORCED TO BE AN ACTOR’

But daddy Saif Ali Khan hopes that with the right guidance, he will find his calling in another field

With parents Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan being accomplished actors, people safely presume that the couple’s tiny tot, 10-month-old Taimur Ali Khan, will grow up to be an actor. That’s what worries Saif. “He’s already a star. There’s going to be pressure on him. Bad luck he’ll have to figure out himself,” jokes Saif. On a serious note, he adds, “Taimur will have to be aware that he is being watched all the time. There would be privileges, but expectations, too. Maybe all that will force him to become an actor. I hope that with the right guidance, maybe he will find his calling in another field. I just hope to give him good education and exposure to the world.” His daughter, Sara (with former wife, actor Amrita Singh) is set to make her big screen debut. Did she always want to be an actor? “Yes, ever since we went on a world tour with Salman Khan. She saw Aishwarya Rai on stage and some 30,000 people were screaming, and Sara had said, ‘I quite liked this idea’. I do tell my kids that acting is a great job but try and be an artist. Don’t follow the rules.” With Taimur’s birth [in December 2016], is Saif better at managing time now? “That’s where balance comes in. For me, freshness suffers because I can’t do the same thing all the time. I have to stop, watch TV, have a drink, talk about something different and then have the time to prepare and go back to work the next day... I like the way Akshay Kumar functions. He takes his Sundays off and you need that rhythm,” says Saif, who is currently promoting his upcoming film, Chef.
