It felt like working in my debut film: Shamita
For nine long years, actor Shamita Shetty stayed away from Bollywood, and made a career in interior designing. Now, she is back to acting with a web series, titled Yo Ke Hua Bro. Asked if she was nervous facing the camera after such a long time, the actor says that it’s only natural to feel so. “But this is something that I absolutely love doing. On the first day of my shoot, I went to my director asking him if I was doing it right, and he explained to me that [because] I hadn’t acted for so long... you tend to unlearn everything. He was very encouraging,” says Shamita, who made her Bollywood debut with Mohabbatein (2000). Recalling the time when she worked on her debut film, the actor says that shooting for this web series was no different — she again felt like a debutante. “When I shot for Mohabbatein, I didn’t really know much about acting. I didn’t know right or wrong angles, what worked for me, how to do things. You learn all these over the years and because I didn’t have all that information, I could perform bindaas. While doing this web series, I felt [as if] I was working in my first film all over again,” shares Shamita. Known for the longest time

as “Shilpa Shetty’s sister”, Shamita admits that it took much effort to find her niche. About any apprehensions regarding her comeback, Shamita says, “If I wasn’t sure about this venture, I wouldn’t have gotten into that area. I’ve always been like this — unless I’m a hundred per cent convinced, I don’t choose to be a part of the film.”
