What’s Parineeti’s best gift this year?

- Pooja Sharma

Parineeti Chopra is the newest entrant among Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again cast. She’s also a new entrant to the full-fledged comedy genre, and is looking forward to this novelty. “I was so excited... when I got the call for the film,” says Parineeti, adding that she has always looked forward to being in such a commercial venture. She points out, “I hate this term ‘commercial’, because it has been abused. Unfortunately, it has led to a genre called ‘commercial films’. I always wanted to act in one, and it doesn’t get better than a Rohit Shetty film — that, too, the Golmaal series. I’m undermining myself [perhaps]... but clearly, I did something right for him to see it and cast me.” The cherry on the cake is that the film is releasing two days before Parineeti’s birthday, October 22. Must be a double celebration, then? She says, “I’m a person who starts counting down. In that way, I’m still a child. I get really excited about birthdays. I’m going to turn 29, but I feel like I’m 12, because it’s all about me, and I love it! Hopefully, I’ll be having a birthday-cumsuccess party.” Parineeti is adventurous when it comes to her roles. But while she’d go that extra mile for any character she plays on screen, she doesn’t remain in character once the cameras stop rolling. “When I’m acting, I’ll give my 100 per cent, and forget the rest of my life. But when it is ‘cut’, I immediately switch to my personal life. I am a committed hedonist,” she says. “So I work towards making every moment happy, and having a good and healthy life. I don’t take characters back with me or keep the filmi thing going in me. There’s too much to explore in the world.”
