Being a police officer is no mean feat, even if it’s all for a film, as one has to look and act the part just right. And guess what, it’s cop time for Arjun Kapoor. HT has exclusively learnt that the actor will be seen as a 30-year-old police officer from a special unit in the Delhi Police, for Dibakar Banerjee’s next film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. To do justice to his role, “Arjun was engaged in extensive, in-depth research that involved thorough observation and close interactions with the police force,” says an insider. “Earlier this month, Arjun and Dibakar spent 10 days travelling to different spots in Delhi-ncr to witness cadet training of the military and para military forces, handling of arms, and their fitness training. Arjun had lengthy interactions with them in their homes, as he wanted to get a first-person feel of how they are built to tackle just about any situation of risk and conflict,” adds the insider. In the film, the actor’s character aspires to get promoted to a more responsible role in law enforcement. That’s why he needed to undergo special training. When contacted, Arjun said: “After the training, I’ve understood the sacrifices that they [cops] make. They are at the beck and call for the service of the nation and don’t worry about themselves; they have to be mentally strong. Mental strength is something anyone in a uniform needs before physical strength.” We hear that the extensive training for the film took a toll on Arjun, who was left dehydrated and exhausted.
