LENDING SUPPORT TO ANIMALS
Shraddha Kapoor shared a post on her social media from the perspective of a caged animal. Through her post, she asked fans to correlate their lockdown experience, replete with depression and isolation, with animals who are kept in cages for the pleasure of humans. She urged all to lend their voice to the voiceless and support all the animals who are caged in zoos and kept in captivity.
LIGHT IN DARKER TIMES
To honour frontline Covid-19 warriors worldwide, a spectacular light and sound show was organised on West Bengal’s iconic Howrah Bridge. The thank you gesture was the Kolkata Port Trust’s initiative which also coincided with the International Day of Light. Whether it was lighting of candles and diyas or flypasts by fighter jets or military band performances outside hospitals, India has time and again felicitated coronavirus warriors.
A PINK SPECTACLE
A part of Talawe wetlands in Navi Mumbai has turned a spectacular shade of pink. The pink hue is due to an explosive blooming of red algae that thrives in saline water, especially as the summer picks up and the wetland loses its water. Few weeks back, thousands of flamingos had coloured the wetlands pink and now this spectacle! Mumbaikars are surely in for a treat sponsored by the environment.
VALUE THIS TIME
A reader of Hindustan Times, Jasleen Kaur, has written a poem, titled 100 years later, about the quarantine life and its positive effects. She stresses on the importance of love, a mother’s affection and family relationships. This pandemic has taught people to value nature, human relationships and has urged us to count our blessings, and that is what Jasleen is focussing on.
