Sonu Sood’s bus charity spurs meme fest

When Sonu Sood began by arranging for bus services to help migrant workers reach their hometowns, little did he know his philanthro­py will trigger memes.

The actor’s social media is flooded with praises and messages from migrants and celebritie­s alike. Union Minister Smriti Irani, actors Rajkummar Rao, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and Tabu, filmmakers Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty among others have applauded his efforts. But that’s not all, social media is abuzz with memes on Sood, some of which he shared on his Twitter profile.

The latest was the ‘breaking news’ of a biopic being made on Sood, starring Akshay Kumar. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta even reached out to Sood asking to buy the rights and posted the actor’s response on his Twitter handle.

Shetty called, I speak to Farah Khan almost daily, Tabu and Hrithik (Roshan) also texted and it was so sweet of all of them to encourage me. I’ve checked out some memes and I feel they are a ‘thank you’ from creative minds out there.” he says, adding, “I loved the Alia Bhatt meme, ‘Mujhe apne ghar jaana hai’ among others. And Sanjay Gupta joked about the biopic. I told him that he has to cast me as me in the film ).Iam glad the drive I started was able to reach and help people.”
