Author and actor Twinkle Khanna has revived her love for the art of embroidery during lockdown, and had earlier embroidered the face of artist Frida Kahlo on a piece of cloth. In her latest artwork, she stitched the likeness of an adorable Mumbai tai on her white shirt. She wrote, “Moving hands still the mind and my Mumbai ‘Tai’ livens up an old white shirt.”
Instead of pulling each other down, real women uplift one another. In the lockdown, when many lost jobs and salaries were slashed, some women took it upon themselves to feed their families. Maitri — Ek Parichay, a programme started by Namrata Narayan, Rama Foundation, aims at making rural women selfreliant. The programme encourages them to carve their own identity. From pickle making to candle making, these women have become micro entrepreneurs.

A collective of musicians, producers and DJS are recording the voices of vulnerable and near threatened birds from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, to help conserve endangered birds. The flute-like chirps and screeching single-note squalls recorded in an album would be then heard on dance floors around the world, and the proceeds will go towards conserving the endangered birds. The artistes want to pay homage to many of the birds that have disappeared, and spread awareness about these birds.
