Sachet-parampara on resuming live gigs: Fear restricts you in every way

In the last year and a half, live shows had completely taken a backseat, but the music industry is now taking baby steps towards normalcy, says music composerlyricist duo and husband-wife, Sachet and Parampara Tandon. The pair, who recently resumed live shows, says the experience was “surreal and exhilarating.”

“They say you don’t know what you have till you lose it. And, this holds true for the last two years,” shares Sachet, while Parampara says it’s only when they got on stage that they realised they’re “blessed to be back”. “Well never take anything for granted,” she adds.

But, is there a fear of crowds and uncertainty about adherence to Covid-19 protocols? “No, as fear restricts you in every way. We don’t want that,” says Sachet, adding, “Yes, in a crowd, wearing a mask and maintaining distance is of utmost importance, and so is being fully vaccinated. If you know you have taken all safety protocols, you shouldn’t let the fear of Covid take over your mind. That is a dangerous territory.”

The two have been going strong professionally, having composed music for films such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Kabir Singh (2019), and the upcoming Jersey and Adipurush. “It has actually been our busiest year,” says Parampara, who got married to Sachet in 2020 and in the same year, built their online audience base.

“It’s amazing to see the reactions our videos get. We realise nothing can stop music composition, and there’s always a way to connect with your audiences. And for that, one has to be grateful to the power of social media,” she reasons.

The duo has also become quite a favourite on social media. “The tag ‘social media sensations’ is something we ourselves cannot believe. We were simply doing what we do best — making music, singing and keeping fans positive in the last two years, which is something everyone needs,” they conclude.
