Man marries outside faith, beaten up; wife abducted
REASON 24-year-old Jat man married a Muslim girl through Arya Samaj three months ago in Jodhpur against the wishes of her family
JAIPUR: A 24-year-old man was beaten up with canes and his wife kidnapped in Hanumangarh district’s Karnisar village, police said on Friday.
The victim, Pawan Jat, had eloped with Muslim girl Rehana, a resident of Dablirathan, a neighbouring village, in January this year and got married through Arya Samaj in Jodhpur.
The girl’s family was against the alliance.
After spending three months in Jodhpur, the couple returned to Karnisar in April thinking the families must have reconciled themselves to the marriage.
On Wednesday, at 1.30 am, the couple and other family members were asleep in their house, when Rehana’s father Sardar Khan, brothers Salim and Amaan, relative Sardul Khan, along with 7-8 men armed with lathis barged into their house and attacked them.

After spending three months in Jodhpur, the couple
up Pawan Jat’s mother Leela (48) and sister Sushila (25) who were sleeping in the courtyard. When Pawan Jat and his father Hetram, 50, intervened, they were also thrashed by the accused, the police said.
The armed men left with Rehana and are absconding after the attack.
Villagers rushed Pawan and his parents to the district hospital in Hanumangarh around 2.30 am.

a case under section 365 of the IPC against Rehana’s father and others for kidnap and wrongful confinement of a person.
Sadar SHO Rajesh Sihag said police rushed to the village on getting information about the attack. He said Dablirathan outpost in-charge Subhash Chand is investigating into the case.
Hanumangarh superintendent of police Sharat Kaviraj told HT on telephone that the accused were at large and the police was making efforts to nab them soon.
