FIVE ITIs WILL BE DEVELOPED FOR ARTISANS: CHIEF MINISTER
JAIPUR: Chief minister Vasundhrara Raje on Saturday said five selected Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) will be developed in the state to develop skills among artisans. The centres will be identified and developed as ‘centre of excellence’ in art and craft trade.
Raje was addressing the round table confrence on ‘development of weavers and artisans’ at the conference hall of chief minister’s office.
Artisans will be provided skill training in fabric, stone, leather, wood and metal art. She said private players will be identified for each of these centre of excellence.
Raje said weavers and artisans should be educated and encouraged to adopt new designs and innovations. She said artisans have to prepare their products according to the market demand keeping in view the design and quality so that their get market for these products.
Raje said crafts and artisans can be promoted by convergence of craft with MNREGA. She said handmade crafts have huge potential and this sector earns livelihood for thousands of people. She said there is a need to create support system for the craft and artisans besides developing entrepreneurship among artisans so that they can prepare their product according to the market demand and can do proper branding of their products.
She emphasised on identifying artisans and connecting them with artisan credit card to avail them easy credit access. She also asked for connecting artisans to Jan Dhan Yojana, Bhamashah Yojana and other social security schemes.
Raje invited suggestions from the resource persons and experts present in the conference and said their valuable suggestions will prove to be catalyst for the change.
