Cong slams IAS officer’s transfer for Nehru remark

-

INDORE: Indore City Congress Committee on Friday condemned Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government’s move to transfer Barwani district collector Ajay Gangwar for his pro-Nehru posts on his Facebook page.

Gangwar was transferred on Thursday night as Deputy Secretary in the Secretariat in Bhopal. Gangwar had been promoted to the IAS cadre from the state service in 2005.

In a press statement issued on Friday, city Congress president Pramod Tandon said state government’s move revealed the anti-Dalit face of the BJP and its parent ideologue Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“The BJP and RSS merely want to draw political mileage in the name of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. They cannot tolerate a Dalit official praising Pandit Nehru,” Tandon said.

On Thursday, state government removed Gangwar from his post two days after he caused flutter by praising former prime minister Pandit Nehru on social media post.

In the Facebook post written in Hindi, Gangwar has written, “Pls let me know the mistakes Nehru should not have committed…It was his mistake if he didn’t allow you to become a Hindu Talibani Rashtra in 1947..It was his mistake that he brought IIT, ISRO, BARAC, IISB, IIM, BHEL STEEL PLANT, DAMS, THERMAL POWER (sic)…it was his mistake that he gave respect to SARABHAI, HOMI JAHANGEER instead of INTELLECTUAL like Asaram and Ramdev..It was his blunder that he opened university in place of Goshala and Mandir..It was his mistake that he showed you a scientific way in place of superstition..Gandhi family needs to apologise to the nation for such mistakes (sic)”.
