CBSE results: 1.6 lakh get perfect CGPA score

NEW DELHI: A total of 1,68,541 students across the country — 85,316 boys and 83,225 girls— scored a perfect 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average or CGPA score in the Class X exam, results for which were announced on Saturday. Last year 94,474 students scored a perfect CGPA.

With a pass percentage of 96.36, girl students outperform­ed boys (96.11%) this year too. The overall pass percentage this year was 96.21, marginally lower than last year’s 97.32%.

Area-wise, Thiruvanat­hpuram was ahead of other regions with a pass percentage of 99.87 followed by Chennai which had a pass percentage of 99.69.

A total of 14,91,293 candidates were registered for Class 10 examinatio­n, an increase of about 8.5% candidates over last year.

Category wise, the Central Government run Jawahar Navodyaya Vidyalayas have scored a pass percentage of 98.87 followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas which have a pass percentage of 98.85. Independen­t schools have a pass percentage of 97.72, while government schools have a pass percentage of 86.61.

With an overall pass percentage of 97.88, the Patna region of CBSE, comprising of schools in Bihar and Jharkhand, bagged the fourth position out of the total ten regions.

Differentl­y- abled candidates also did well in the exam with 95.18% of them clearing it. In a dubious distinctio­n, as many as 73 of the 323 government schools in Manipur had a pass percentage of zero.

This implies that there was not a single student in these 73 schools -- 22.6% of the total number -- who passed the High School Leaving Certificat­e (HSLC) examinatio­n conducted from March 1-19 by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur.
