THE TRIAL WILL BE STARTED BETWEEN BAREILLY AND MORADABAD STATIONS AND WILL CONTINUE TILL JUNE 12

BAREILLY: Speed trial of Spanish Talgo coaches will start on Sunday between Bareilly and Moradabad and continue till June 12. The coaches would run at a speed of 115 km per hour, officials said.

In a step towards realisation of India’s bullet train dreams, the railways has successfully conducted censor trials of the Spanish Talgo coaches between Izzatnagar and Bhojipura stations on Saturday. Officials said the “super luxury” coaches were pulled by an Indian engine. “The coaches, which Talgo had manufactured 30 years ago, have been successfully tried in 12 countries, including Tazakistan.

“The coaches have a number of censors and to check whether they were functioning properly, the mechanical engineer of the Railway Board had directed for a censor trial,” an official said.

In another trial at MathuraPalwal section, the coaches are expected to achieve a speed of 180 km/hour and 200 km - 220 km/hour on the New DelhiMumbai route. Public Relation Officer of North-Eastern Railway, Izzatnagar division, Rajendra Singh said the censor trial of the coaches was successful.

A three-member team of the Railway Board had arrived at the workshop on Wednesday and were given information about the Talgo coaches. A Spanish team gave a presentation and share with them detailed information about each and every equipment, he said.

Railways minister Suresh Prabhu in past months has been experimenting with multiple ideas to ramp up speeds of passenger trains, which had more or less been static in past decades. Earlier this year, the Gatimaan Express – India’s first semi-high speed that clocks 160 kmph was launched on the Delhi-Agra route.

Prabhu recently set up a “Mobility directorate” at the Rail Bhawan to work on strategies to increase train speeds.
