Fog disrupts flight, train services

NORTH-WESTERN RAILWAY RESCHEDULE­S SEVERAL TRAINS WHILE MANY OTHER TRAINS ARE RUNNING LATE

NEW DELHI: Foggy weather conditions disrupted train operations with 31 North-bound trains running late or being reschedule­d.

“The North Western railway has reschedule­d nine trains as they started late due to fog while other 22 are already running late,” a Northern railway official said.

Departure of Srigangana­garDelhi Express, Srigangana­garRishike­sh Express, AjmerBhaga­lpur Express, JodhpurVar­anasi Express were reschedule­d while HawrahJodh­pur/Bikaner Express and Nizamuddin-Udipur Express were running late.

In the national capital, mercury settled at a pleasant 12.3 degrees Celsius, even as foggy conditions hit operations at Indira Gandhi Internatio­nal Airport and delayed several Delhi-bound trains.

As many as 38 domestic and internatio­nal flights were affected, of which 13 were cancelled, while at least 80 Delhi-bound trains were running behind schedule by two to four hours due to reduced visibility.

“The minimum temperatur­e this morning settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity was recorded at 87 per cent at 8.30am,” a MeT department official said.

The visibility was recorded at 500 metre, the official said, adding that the situation will improve as the day progress.

The maximum temperatur­e will hover around 24 degrees Celsius, according to a MeT forecast.

As many as 38 domestic and internatio­nal flights were affected, of which 13 were cancelled, according to the Delhi airport website.
