fair to commemorate Vibhishan, who helped in the fight of good over evil,” he told Hindustan Times.
The temple is unique as there are no other temples dedicated to Vibhishana in the country, said Hariom Puri, another member of the committee.
Asked about the folklore associated with the temple, Hariom Puri said Lord Shiva and Hanuman once asked Vibhishana to take them on a pilgrimage of all the four Hindu pilgrimages sites or “dhams”, with a condition that wherever Vibhishana would stop during the journey, the two of them would turn into stones.
So when Vibhishana, carrying Shiva and Hanuman in his “kaanwat” stopped in the Kaithoon region, they all turned into stones and a Hanuman temple and Shiva temple came up in the Rangbari area and Char Chauma area of Kota, he said.
The Harmara police on Wednesday seized ₹7 lakh in the denomination of ₹10 coins and arrested four people, who were transporting the coins to Delhi.
Police said the four arrested men have revealed that they came to Jaipur to take delivery of the coins for a Delhi-based bidi manufacturer.
“After receiving a tip-off, we stopped two cars near the Daulatpura toll plaza and searched them. We found ₹7 lakh in the denomination of ₹10 coins kept in plastic sacks. Following interrogation, the men revealed that they had taken delivery of the coins from one Pritam, who is a resident of the Civil Lines in Jaipur,” said assistant commissioner of police (Chomu) Dinesh Sharma.
Police said that the men identified themselves as employees of one Anurag Kejriwal, who is a bidi manufacturer from Delhi.
“There are contradictions in the statements of the men. We are also suspecting that a substantial chunk of the coins are counterfeit and we will be sending them to the mint in Noida for verification,” said Sharma.
Police said the four men– Manoj Kumar, Amit, Dinesh Jat and Ashok Jatav–have been arrested under Section 109/151 of the Code of Criminal Procedure(CrPC).
“We have also called Kejriwal and Pritam for questioning and are trying to find out what exactly the nature of their transaction was,” said Harmara police station chief Lakhan Singh.
“The money was being transported in 14 plastic sacks in two cars,” he said.
