“Police had to be deployed in large numbers to control the situation and finally around 2:30am on Thursday the fighting stopped. However, the local residents jammed the road later in the day to protest against the unruly behavious of the constables,” said the police.

The residents also met state BJP president Ashok Parnami demanding action against the cops.

“We have registered cases against 200 trainee recruits of the police wireless centre under various sections of the SC/ST Act, sections 143, 323, 341, 452 and 336 of the IPC. Further investigation is going on in the case,” said Bhushan. More than 100 police personnel from around five nearby police stations have been deployed to avert untoward incidents in the area.
