New domestic flights from Jaipur to boost air connectivi­ty to state

connectivi­ty from Jaipur is set to improve substantia­lly in the coming months with a private airline announcing new flights to Chandigarh, Indore and Lucknow.

In addition, new flights will be launched between Jaipur and Jaisalmer and Jaipur and Agra under union government’s regional connectivi­ty scheme.

Jet Airways will launch a Jaipur-Chandigarh flight from March 26. The flight will depart at 2.05 pm and reach Chandigarh at 3.35 pm while the flight from Chandigarh will depart at 4.10 pm and reach Jaipur at 5.40 pm.

The airline plans to use 70-seater ATR aircrafts on the route, sources said. Jet Airways has also announced flights to Indore and Lucknow from December this year.

Jaipur airport director JS Balhara said new flights will go a long way to improve air connectivi­ty from Jaipur.

At present, there are 48 daily domestic flights and seven internatio­nal flights from Jaipur and with introducti­on of new flights, the total number of daily flights will go up to 51.

In another developmen­t, officials of state civil aviation department and union civil aviation department signed on an agreement to improve regional air connectivi­ty in New Delhi on Monday.

Under the agreement, flights will be launched between Jaipur and Jaisalmer, Jaipur and Agra and Delhi and Bikaner.

At present, Supreme Airlines operates flights between Jaipur and Jodhpur and also has plans to launch operations from more cities. Supreme Airlines operates intra-state flights for six days in a week with a nine-seater Cessna aircraft.

The state government, in the recent budget slashed value added tax (VAT) on air turbine fuel and also announced air connectivi­ty between Jaipur and Ranthambor­e, which is popular for its tiger reserve.
