Question paper leak: Five more arrested

A day after the special operations group (SOG) of the Rajasthan police arrested eight people, including senior professors of the University of Rajasthan, for being involved in leaking question papers, five more people were arrested on Tuesday.

According to senior officials of the SOG, the police arrested Chandra Prakash Sindhi, who runs a commerce coaching centre in Bandikui.

Two others, Akhil Rawat and Ajay Saini, were arrested along with Sindhi. According to the police, the duo was Sindhi’s associates and helped him give information about the question papers to students.

“We had received information that Sindhi, who runs a coaching centre in Bandikui city in Dausa district, was involved. Our team arrested him from his coaching centre where he was leaking the paper to his students a few hours before the exam,” said superintendent of police (SOG) Sanjay Shrotriya.

Shrotriya added that after the exam, the question paper was compared with the one given by Sindhi to his students.

“We found that almost 90 percent of the question paper was same, which implies that Sindhi had leaked the paper hours before the exam. His two associates have also been arrested from Bandikui for aiding Sindhi,” said Shrotriya.

The police added that the other two men arrested on Tuesday were Shankar Chopra, a lecturer at the Kaladera Government College, and Nandlal Saini, a staffer with the secrecy department of the University of Rajasthan.

“Till now, six cases have been registered in the matter and we are scrutinising several other individuals involved in the racket,” said Shrotriya.

The SOG had busted the racket on Monday after it had arrested Govind Pareek, a professor of commerce at RU; Jagdish Prasad Jat, head of geography department at University of Rajasthan; BL Gupta, a retired professor of geography; NS Modi, principal government college, Khajuwala, Bikaner; Shambhudayal Jhalani, lecturer, SSG Pareek Girls College, Chomu; Kalicharan Sharma, lecturer, Agrasen College, Bhadra, Hanumangarh; Sharad, an employee of RBD book depot and Nipun Modi, son of NS Modi.
